Local leaders are mostly positive about intergovernmental cooperation and look to expand efforts
The Michigan Public Policy Survey asked Michigan's local government leaders an extensive battery of questions regarding intergovernmental cooperation, service sharing, consolidation, and more, during the Fall 2010 survey. Responses show that intergovernmental cooperation is a common feature of local public service delivery today, all across the state of Michigan. Overall, 72% of local jurisdictions report that they are currently involved in some type of formal collaborative effort with another unit of government. In addition, most local officials say their collaborative efforts have been successful, and many report that they are looking to expand these efforts further.
